Kotromanović and Romanian Ambassador discussed defence cooperation

Defence Minister Ante Kotromanović received today, March 5, in the inaugural visit the Ambassador of Romania to Croatia Cosmin George Dinescu.

On this occasion Kotromanović stressed that Croatia and Romania have a good bilateral cooperation and expressed his gratitude for the support provided by Romania to the Republic of Croatia during the EU accession process. He also pointed out that the common contribution of the two countries they provided to international peace support operations, with special emphasis on the role and importance of KFOR operation in Kosovo for the stability of the region, and Croatia’s determination to build regional stability by taking active role in regional initiatives such as A-5. Both sides also expressed their determination to support and further participate in the ISAF operation in Afghanistan, and in achieving the goals of transition and taking responsibility of the Afghan forces for the security of their country.

During the meeting they also discussed cooperation in achieving objectives of the EU Common Defence and Security Policy, as well as the upcoming NATO Summit in Chicago (USA), which is expected to resume talks on the ongoing reform of the Alliance, allied operations, NATO missile defence and the concept of Smart Defence.

Minister Kotromanović pointed out that he hoped that the military-technical cooperation between the two countries would be intensified in the coming period, especially in light of the upcoming military industry fair in Bucharest (May 2012), where it is expected the participation of Croatian military industry.
