Lecture of Minister Besimi on the War College

Minister of Defence of the Republic of Macedonia Fatmir Besimi today, 9 September 2011, during a visit to the Ministry of Defence, visited the Croatian Military Academy “Petar Zrinski” where he gave a lecture to students of War College “Ban Josip Jelacic”.

Minister Besimi and the Macedonian delegation were welcomed by the officials of the Military Academy, led by Deputy Commander Brigadier General Slaven Zdilar. During the first part of the visit, guests were presented with history, structure and tasks of the Military Academy, followed by the minister’s lecture to War College students titled “The contribution of the Republic of Macedonia to regional and global security”. Recalling the fact that his country yesterday celebrated the 20th anniversary of independence, Minister Besimi presented a brief overview of Macedonia’s transition period. The central part of the lecture was related to Macedonia’s efforts to achieve Euro-Atlantic integrations, as well as in achieving stability and peace in the region. A special role in this endeavour had the contribution of the Macedonian Armed Forces in international operations, with emphasis on the ISAF. Besimi also announced his country’s soon participation in EU battle groups.

During the lecture, and discussion that followed, the Macedonian defence minister has repeatedly pointed out and praised his country’s defence cooperation with Croatia, particularly in the framework of the A-5 initiative.

Minister Besimi will also visit and tour the production line of “HS Produkt”.
