Lecture on Islamic culture to 9th HRVCON for UNDOF mission

Members of the 9th HRVCON, who have been preparing to leave for UNDOF peacekeeping mission on the Golan Heights, today, 29 March 2012, on “Gašinci” military training facility were given a lecture on Islamic culture and religious customs.

Lecture on Syrian religious and cultural customs, traditions and history was held by Ph.D. Aziz Effendi Hasanović, Assistant President of Islamic Community in Croatia. In particular he spoke about specific situations in which HRVCON members could be found, the relationship with the local population and behaviour during the Islamic month of fasting (Ramadan).

Commander of the 9th Croatian contingent for UNDOF peacekeeping mission, Major Davor Josip Babić thanked Dr. Hasanović on an interesting and very informative lecture.

Lecture on Islamic culture and religious customs is part of the training of members of the Armed Forces who will be deployed in UNDOF peacekeeping mission, and this was the 9th contingent passing this kind of preparation. Thanks to this concept of training, members of the Armed Forces were recognized in the mission as culturally and religiously tolerant and considerate, and aware of the specific environment in which they perform their tasks.
