Lectures on joining the EU in Gospic

“Croatia on its path to Euro-Atlantic integration” and “Croatia – 28th member of the European Union – what the membership will bring?” were the topics of lectures held today, on Wednesday, 9 March 2011, in Gospic, held by the Minister of Defence Davor Bozinovic and special commissioner of the Prime Minister Davor Ivo Stier.

Lectures were held for students at the Polytechnic “Nikola Tesla” and for the public on the “dr. Ante Starcevic” Open College, organized by the College and “Konrad Adenauer” foundation.
Minister Bozinovic said that by joining the EU Croatia would complete a historical cycle in which it stood to his feet, received international recognition, defended itself, became a member of international organizations: UN, NATO and has been in accession to the EU as a full member of the economic, political, civil and security circle in which it always belonged. “So today I can rightly claim that the completion of our magnificent ‘Storm’ operation was not when it was, but it happens in these days”, Defence Minister Bozinovic said. According to Minister, most recent researches confirm that in Licko-Senjska County there is high percentage of the population that support Croatian accession to the EU, and the Minister also stressed the high percentage of the population in the Lika region, which supported Croatian accession to NATO. This has led other regions in Croatia to such direction, the Minister said. Besides the Minister, lectures have been also held by the Prime Minister’s Special Representative for the EU Ivo Davor Stier, director of the “Konrad Adenauer” Foundation Reinhard Wessel and others.
