Lieutenant General Drago Lovric confirmed as Chief of General Staff

During the visit of Croatian President Ivo Josipovic and Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor to the Ministry of Defence today, 1 March 2011, it was confirmed that Lieutenant General Drago Lovric has been officially appointed as Chief of General Staff of Croatian Armed Forces.

“The decision for appointment of Lieutenant General Drago Lovric as Chief of General Staff of the CAF has been signed”, President of the Republic of Croatia Ivo Josipovic said.
He confirmed that on the meeting in the Defence Ministry the talks were on defence issues, development plans in the defence field, as well as on a series of amendments to the laws relating to the defence area. Also, President Josipovic announced a new session of the Defence Council.
They also discussed the report of the Commission for the investigation of an accident of the two military planes MIG-21.
In a media statement Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor expressed satisfaction with today’s meeting, stressing the excellent cooperation in all areas of defence. She also pointed out the amendments regarding the laws relating to the area of defence. “We are pleased with the new location of the Ministry of Defence, which we have had the opportunity to see for the first time”, Prime Minister Kosor concluded.
