Lieutenant General Pocius visited 93rd Zemunik Air Base
Chief of General Staff of the Republic of Lithuania Lieutenant General Arvydas Pocius and his associates visited on September 20 the 93rd Zemunik Air Base.
General Pocius expressed satisfaction with the visit and cooperation between the air forces, “I’m glad I’m here and that we work together”, he said.
He especially emphasized the cooperation in the training of Lithuanian helicopter crews in Zemunik for the tasks of flying in mountainous areas. Until now, four crews of the Lithuanian Air Force were trained.
Chief of General Staff of the Republic of Lithuania was accompanied by the Commander of the Croatian Air Force and Air Defence, Brigadier General Dražen Šćuri and Commander of the Support Command, Major General Mate Ostović, and the presentation on the activities of the 93rd Zemunik Air Base was given by the Base Commander Lieutenant Colonel Karol Lučan.
Lithuanian side expressed a particular interest in the work of the Pilot School and on our model of training of military pilots.
General Pocius expressed a willingness to share Lithuanian experiences in the Air Policing, and invited members of the Croatian Air Force to visit Lithuania.
Commander of the Croatian Air Force and Air Defence, General Šćuri proposed models for expansion of cooperation between the air forces, primarily thinking on the Lithuanian involvement in the Croatian-Czech project of training helicopter pilots.
General Pocius also visited “Jackal Stone 2012” exercise where members of Armed Forces of Lithuania also participate.
During his stay in Zemunik the Chief of General Staff of the Lithuanian Armed Forces was also attending the working lunch with Exercise Commander Major General Michael Repass and his Deputy, Brigadier General Ivan Jurić.
Lieutenant General Arvydas Pocius and his associates will also visit Split where the Lithuanian participants in the “Jackal Stone 12” exercise have been accommodated.
