Lt. Cdr. Sučević joins “ATALANTA” Operation
As of 30 January 2014 the Croatian Navy member, Lt. Cdr. Slaven Sučević took over the duty of operations analyst in the EUNAVFOR Operational Headquarters in Nortwood, UK from Lt. Srđan Bilić, whose term begun in August 2013.
Lt. Cdr. Sučević’s engagement is a continuation of active participation of the Croatian Armed Forces in the first EU naval operation, undertaken to protect vessels of the World Food Programme (WFP) and to deter acts of piracy in the Gulf of Aden and off the Somali coast.
The members of the Croatian Armed Forces have been engaged in the Operation pursuant to the Decision by the Croatian Parliament of 3 April 2009.
The rotations in the Operational Hq are conducted on a semi-annual basis, while boarding the ships deployed on the operation itself is subject to bilateral agreements.
