Macedonian AF Officers attend BRADD in Zemunik

The “Rudolf Perešin” Croatian Air Force and Air Defence Training Centre at the Zemunik Barracks is hosting a two-week course on Radar Technique designed for the members of the Macedonian Armed Forces, commenced on 9 April 2013.

The Course is an integral part of the Balkan Regional Approach to Air Defence (BRADD) Initiative, which is a multinational approach to air defence in the southeast Europe region and which has been conceived and prepared by the NATO International Military Staff and supported by the relevant NATO bodies and agencies (e.g. the NC3A, the NAMSA and the NACMA). The BRADD Initiative aims to connect Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Macedonia and Albania in the domain of exchange of data related to air space situation, joint training and training of the respective personnel aimed at upgrading the level of security (early warning) as well as on potential costs reduction for the participating nations, as envisaged by the NATO’s “Smart Defence” Concept.

The Macedonian officers are receiving instruction on the basics of radio locators, radar techniques and systems, modern radar functioning and autonomous operating of radar measurement devices and the like.

The first Course of the series was conducted in March, and was attended by the members of the Army of Montenegro.
