Maj. Matija Vrđuka – new leader of “Wings of Storm”

Major Matija Vrđuka took over the leadership of the “Wings of the Storm” aerobatic group today, 19 October 2012, which operates in the 93rd Air Force Base in Zemunik Barracks.

Major Vrđuka was born in 1977 in Zagreb.
He finished training for the Croatian military pilot as a member of the 4th generation of cadets. Major is a member of the group since its establishment in 2005, he has 82 appearances and conducted about 1500 flight hours within the group. He is the Commander of the Flying Platoon and flight instructor in the Fighter Squadron.

With a new leader, “Wings of the Storm” begins with a workout program for the next season and with a new member, Capt. Josip Čolak which until now performed within the aerobatic group as a demo pilot on the Pilatus PC-9M.

Former leader, Major Damir Barišić, who has been sent to the Command and Staff College “Blago Zadro” was praised for overall contribution to the work and management of the group by the Commander of the 93rd Air Force Base Colonel Karol Lučan.
