Member of the 17th HRVCON in Afghanistan accidentally injured
As a result of careless handling of personal weapons – gun, during cleaning, today, on Monday, 20 June 2011, at about 12.00 hours Croatian time, a member of the 17th Croatian contingent (HRVCON) in Afghanistan, was accidentally injured by his colleagues also member of the 17th HRVCON in the camp in northern Afghanistan.
Injured soldier, who suffered a gunshot wound of the left leg, was given the medical help immediately at the scene and was then transferred to a German military hospital at Camp Marmal, also in northern Afghanistan, where he underwent surgery.
The injured member of the Croatian Armed Forces is out of life danger, and accident occurred during the planned activity of cleaning and checking of personal weapons.
