Military helicopter monitors flooded areas of Slavonia
The Croatian Air Force and Air Defence Base conducted reconnaissance flights over the flood-hit areas in Slavonia on 26 May (see YouTube video)
The Mi-8 MTV crew of the Transport Helicopter Squadron of the 93rd Croatian Air Force and Air Defence Base on 26 May 2014 conducted aerial reconnaissance of the flood-hit areas in Slavonia, continuing the previous reconnaissance along the route Županja – Rajevo Selo – Gunja – Račinovci – Strošinci – Lipik – Otok – Vrbanja – Posavski Podgajci – Županja, and transporting the personnel of the Croatian Waters Authority engaged in the flood relief headquarters. .
The flights have been conducted to monitor the water levels and embankment condition in order to act promptly as necessary.
The Squadron’s crew has been engaged since 18 May 2014, performing a total of 43 flights and transporting 172 persons. The 91st Air Force and Air Defence Base has deployed a crew and a helicopter too, assigned with reconnaissance and transportation in the flooded areas.
