Minister and Chief of GS congratulate CAF in PSO missions and operations

The Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Damir Krstičević and the Chief of the General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces General Mirko Šundov addressed the members of the Croatian Armed Forces serving in NATO-led Resolute Support Mission in Afganistan, in KFOR and in NATO’ Enhanced Forward Presence in  Poland and in UNIFIL.

Minister Krstičević addressed the members of the Croatian Armed Forces deployed to  Afghanistan, Kosovo, Poland and Lebanon via videolink: “Dear enlisted soldiers, NCOs and officers who are taking part in the peace support missions and operations and other members assigned to posts abroad, You may be serving in remote parts of the world but ypu are in our hearts  We are taking care of you as you are on missions of strategic importance, promoting the Croatian Armed Forces and the values of Croatian soldiers – professionalism, responsibility, humility and patriotism. I am happy to have the opportunity in this Christmas season to congratulate you on your achievements and on your excellent service and responsibility and on gracefully representing Croatia as it merits. The Minister also summarised the achievements of the Ministry of Defence and of the Croatian Armed Forces in the past year.

“The year 2018 was successful for the Croatian Armed Forces. We completed all planned activities, throuigh joint and responsible work and commitment by all enlisted soldiers, NCOs and officers. We can justly claim that the Croatian Armed Forces fulfilled its mission, a credit for which goes also to you, serving abroad. All activities and projects were focussed on upgrading the capabilities of the Croatian Armed Forces. “We have restored the status of the Croatian Armed Forces  as they had during the Homeland War and enhanced them, as a result of  joint effort and commitmant from all enlisted soldiers, NCOs and officers”, said the Minister.
 
Ministar Krstičević concluded by extending seasons wishes to the Croatian soldiers in missions and operations abroad and to their families, and congratulations on their service to the homeland and wished them a safe return”. 

The Chief of the General Staff General Mirko Šundov extended appreciation to the Croatian soldiers in missions and operations for honourable service to the homeland: “Enlisted soildiers, NCOs and officers, I warmly thank you for your contribution as Croatian soldiers, and for representing honourably the Republic of Croatia yourselves, and your families. I am extending my appreciation for your commitment and professional service. Security is of  foremost importance during your service in missions and operations, to ensure safe conclusion of your terms and return home I am extending my sincere wishes for this Christmas to you and your families”, said General Šundov.

The Commanders of the Croatian Contingents reported to Minister Krstičević and the Chief of the General Staff of the Croatian Armed FOrces General Mirka Šundov on the situation in their respective deployment areas, saying that it was stable and that all tasks were conducted in accordance with the respective orders and plans. 
Members of the Croatian Armed Forces (a total of ca 300) are presently engaged in seven operations and one peace support mission and one NATO activity.

The 106-member 9th HRVCON, Commanded by Colonel Dražen Ressler is engaged in Resolute Support Mission Afghanistan  
The 33-member 29th HRVCON, Commanded by Captain Elvis Mišić is engaged in KFOR.

The 80-member 3rd HRVCON, commanded by Captain Željko Trček, is engaged in NATO’s Enhanced Forward Presence (led by USA) in Poland. 

The 2nd HRVCON, comprising a 52-member Engineer Regiment of the Croatian Armed Forces. Commanded by Major Siniša Šlibar, is engaged in UNIFIL.
