Minister Anušić from Poland: We will connect Croatian and Polish defence companies
We expect the Polish Minister of Defence to visit Zagreb in the next two months, Minister Anušić said
As part of the working visit to the Republic of Poland, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the Republic of Croatia Ivan Anušić and Chief of the CAF General Staff LTG Tihomir Kundid held a bilateral meeting today, on 8 May 2025, in Warsaw with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence of the Republic of Poland Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz.
The Ministers confirmed the strong bilateral relations between our countries, which are particularly visible in the area of security and defence cooperation.
At the meeting, even more concrete cooperation was agreed upon, which will involve connecting Croatian and Polish defence companies, their cooperation and development, which will ultimately contribute to common security and stability.
Minister Anušić emphasized the strong ties between the two nations: “The Croatian and Polish people share many common values, and we want to send this message of unity clearly from today’s meeting.”
He stressed that the talks were very specific and focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation, primarily in the field of defence and security: “This meeting was of exceptional quality. We have specified important steps for our future, primarily in the field of defence and security. In the next two months, we expect the Polish Minister of Defence to visit Zagreb, where we will sign a Letter of Intent and raise our cooperation to a higher level by connecting our defence industries.”
Speaking about global security challenges, Minister Anušić warned of the need for joint preparation and response: “We must take seriously the dangers and threats coming from the east and we must be ready to deter them.”
Minister Anušić particularly praised Poland’s defence progress: “The Croatian people look with great respect to Polish people and their ability to become a serious military force in a short period of time, aware of danger and responsibility.”
In his review of Croatian history, he drew a parallel between the Homeland War and today’s security challenges: “Today’s situation reminds me of the 1990s, when we too had to defend our independence in a war from which we emerged as winners in 1995. I hope that no nation will ever have to go through such an experience again, but we must be prepared.”
In conclusion, Minister Anušić said: “Croatia and Poland, based on historical experiences and contemporary threats, fully understand each other. Together we continue to strengthen our defence and security cooperation.”
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence of the Republic of Poland, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, thanked the Republic of Croatia for an excellent defence cooperation, which is reflected in the contribution to NATO missions and operations, and emphasized that Croatia and Poland share common security goals and values.
