Minister Anušić Holds Annual Briefing for Military-Diplomatic Corps Representatives
Minister Anušić thanked military attachés of the allied and partner countries for their successful cooperation and briefed them on ongoing modernisation and equipment procurement projects, as well as on the Basic Military Training programme
Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia and Minister of Defence Ivan Anušić, together with the Chief of the General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Tihomir Kundid, held the annual briefing today, 17 March 2026, for representatives of the Military-Diplomatic Corps accredited to the Republic of Croatia.
Minister Anušić thanked the military attachés of the allied and partner countries for their continued excellent cooperation and briefed them on ongoing equipment procurement and modernisation projects, as well as on the Basic Military Training programme.
On this occasion, Minister Anušić emphasised: “In geopolitically and security-challenging times, strong cooperation with our allies is the key to the security and stability of Southeast Europe. As a reliable NATO Ally, Croatia reached 2% of the GDP in defence spending last year, and we stand ready to meet even higher targets, as investment in defence is not a cost, but an investment in security.”
The Minister stated that we will continue to modernise the Croatian Armed Forces, enhance the standards of its personnel, and further invest in the domestic defence industry, which is highly innovative and of exceptional quality.
He also referred to the project of reintroducing Basic Military Training: “By introducing Basic Military Training, which has begun with the first generation of conscripts, we are further strengthening the security of the Republic of Croatia.”
On behalf of the Military-Diplomatic Corps, the Doyen of the Corps addressed the gathering – the Defence Attaché of the Republic of Austria to the Republic of Croatia, Colonel Jure Johann Bauer.
