Minister Anušić in Brussels: Croatia donated military aid worth 208.9 million euros to Ukraine
Croatia is in the twelfth place in terms of the percentage of GDP allocated for providing military aid to Ukraine, Minister Anušić emphasized in Brussels at a meeting of the Ukraine Defence Contact Group
On Wednesday, 12 February 2025, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia and Minister of Defence Ivan Anušić participated in the 26th meeting of the Ukraine Defence Contact Group (UDCG) in Brussels. The meeting was held for the first time under the chairmanship of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, one of the leading members of the UDCG capability coalitions, actually the Maritime Coalition and the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Coalition.
Minister Anušić reported on the last, twelfth package of military assistance that the Republic of Croatia donated to Ukraine. “Croatia is in the 12th place in terms of the percentage of GDP allocated for military assistance and has donated 208.9 million euros worth of military assistance to Ukraine so far,” Minister Anušić said.
The Ukraine Defence Contact Group is a platform that brings together more than fifty countries and has provided Ukraine with significant military assistance over the past three years.
Meeting with the Minister of the French Armed Forces, Sebastien Lecornu
On the first day of his stay in Brussels, Minister Anušić also held a bilateral meeting with the Minister of the French Armed Forces, Sebastien Lecornu.
The topics of discussions during the meeting were cooperation between the two countries, with emphasis on military-technical cooperation, cooperation within the European Union and NATO, and the situation in Southeast Europe and Ukraine.
The Ministers agreed that the Republic of Croatia and the French Republic are allies and strategic partners and that bilateral defence cooperation has been steadily increasing since 2021, in line with the growing trend of military-technical cooperation with regard to implementation of the Rafale multi-role combat airplane procurement project, i.e. the provisions of the Strategic Partnership Agreement between the French Republic and the Republic of Croatia.
Minister Anušić said that the Republic of Croatia has been working intensively on equipping and modernizing all branches of the Armed Forces and that since the beginning of this year, the goal of allocating 2% of the GDP for defence has been achieved, while we are allocating as much as 29% for modernization.
On this occasion, the Ministers also agreed to continue discussions on joint strategic issues at a bilateral meeting in Paris.
