Minister Anušić with Romanian Ambassador Cămărăşan
There is great potential for deepening military-technical cooperation and cooperation between the defence industries of our two countries, Minister Anušić says
Today, on 13 May 2025, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia and Minister of Defence Ivan Anušić received at the Ministry of Defence the Ambassador of Romania to the Republic of Croatia, Daniela Mihaela Cămărăşan, for an inaugural visit.
The meeting confirmed that Croatia and Romania are friendly countries and opened the possibility for further development of bilateral defence cooperation. Minister Anušić and the Romanian Ambassador agreed that Croatia and Romania share a common interest in European and global security.
In addition to discussions on bilateral defence cooperation, global politics, the situation in Ukraine, and possibilities for cooperation in the defence industry were also discussed.
Minister Anušić emphasized that the deterioration of the security architecture in Europe further emphasizes the need to intensify Croatian Army modernization projects and increase investment in the defence system.
In this context, he said: “Europe must rely more on its own capabilities, invest in its defence capacities and its military industry. Investing in defence is a strategic investment in security and stability. It is an investment in the secure future of our citizens. This year, Croatia has reached the defence investment target of 2% of GDP, and the plan is to allocate 2.5% of defence in 2027, of which 35% for equipment and modernization. The Government of the Republic of Croatia has made historic decisions when it comes to the modernization of the Croatian Armed Forces. Some key modernization projects are underway or very close to completion.”
The Ambassador of Romania to the Republic of Croatia, Daniela Mihaela Cămărășan, highlighted the mutual desire to intensify defence and bilateral cooperation.
