Minister Bozinovic met Afghan Defence Minister Wardak

Defence Minister Davor Bozinovic, who as part of the delegation of the President of the Republic of Croatia and Commander in Chief of the Croatian Armed Forces Ivo Josipovic has been in the visit to the ISAF mission in Afghanistan, met today, Saturday, 19 February 2011, the Defence Minister of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Abdul Rahim Wardak.

Meeting of ministers was a continuation of bilateral talks from the last meeting during the Munich Conference, held earlier this month.
During today’s meeting once again the significant contribution of CAF in providing training of the Afghan National Army, but also the guidelines for further cooperation was highlighted. They also discussed the possibility of donation of equipment to Afghan forces and the possibilities for marketing of goods of Croatian military industry on the Afghan market, where Minister Bozinovic introduced Afghan counterpart with the Croatian military industry catalogue. As a special kind of cooperation, the Afghan side was offered the possibility of education of their pilots and instructors for the helicopters in the Republic of Croatia. Minister Wardak expressed his gratitude for the offer and expressed strong interest in his ministry for further strengthening of cooperation, especially in the suggested areas in which direction he soon expected concrete steps. At the end of the meeting Minister Bozinovic invited his Afghan counterpart to visit the Republic of Croatia whose offer was accepted with pleasure.

A visit to Afghanistan continued by meeting the members of the 16th contingent in the Regional Command North in Mazar-e-Sharif.
