Minister Bozinovic met Ambassador of the Republic of Hungary
Defence Minister Davor Bozinovic met today, 15 February 2011, the Ambassador of the Republic of Hungary Gabor Ivan.
During the meeting very successful bilateral defence cooperation was emphasized, which was confirmed by the recent visits of the highest Hungarian officials to Croatia. Minister Bozinovic in this context referred to the recent meeting with Hungarian Minister Hende, thanking him for the support Hungary has been providing to Croatia during the EU accession negotiations. “The entry of Croatian to EU is important for Croatia and Hungary, but also for all countries in the region. Croatia should return to its European family, and we sincerely hope that Croatia will complete negotiations during the Hungarian presidency”, Ambassador Gabor Ivan said.
They also highlighted the high cooperation between the two countries in the defence sector, which was supported by the large number of joint activities planned this year, which would take place through the implementation of joint agreements. Minister Bozinovic thanked the Hungarian Ambassador for help in organization of exhibition of military industry held in October 2010 in Budapest, and stressed the need to intensify cooperation in defence industry because this cooperation was in mutual interest of the two countries. At the end of the meeting they exchanged experiences about cooperation regarding participation in international peacekeeping missions, as well as the possibility of using the capacity of the Zemunik Air Base in Zadar for the training of Hungarian pilots.
