Defence Minister Davor Bozinovic, received on Tuesday, 1 March 2011, in the official visit the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Netherlands to Croatia Stella Ronner-Grubacic.

The meeting was an opportunity to exchange experiences on the current participation of the two countries in the ISAF operation in Afghanistan where the possibility of cooperation in the field of training and mentoring of Afghan security forces was highlighted.
Ambassador Ronner-Grubacic met Minister with the plans of the Kingdom of Netherlands in terms of future engagement in Afghanistan, where she stressed the importance of the current parliamentary debates and the fact that the continuation of participation in the ISAF area of operations would be determined by the final parliamentary approval, which imply that the character of the Dutch involvement would be solely related to training of Afghan police.
Minister Bozinovic met Ambassador with the upcoming plans of Croatian involvement in Afghanistan where he specifically stressed that Croatia has taken a leading role in the Military Police School in Kabul where together with the Croatian mentors, mentors from countries in the region would also be involved. “Until now, readiness for referral of their instructors confirmed Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Slovenia and Albania, and we expect a positive response from other countries signatories of A-5 initiative,” Bozinovic said.
He added that it is a project that, in addition to providing a critical capability for training and support to Afghan security forces, has regional significance in the context of promoting regional defence cooperation. Through this initiative we show that “we are willing to jointly participate in international peacekeeping missions, and thus contribute to establishing security and achieving a peaceful solution in Afghanistan”, Bozinovic said.
They also talked about the current defence cooperation between the two countries and agreed that there were many areas where it could be improved.
