Minister Bozinovic visits ZOD
Minister of Defence Davor Bozinovic paid today, 24 January 2011, a working visit to the “Fran Krsto Frankopan” Training and Doctrine Command (ZOD) of the Croatian Army in Osijek, where he was introduced with Army activities related to the training.
During a visit to ZOD, Minister Bozinovic said that he was glad to have an opportunity to see that those standards for which the Republic of Croatia committed to NATO have been implemented. He also emphasized that our armed forces must continue to be focused on knowledge and training of all members of the Armed Forces. “It is on us for all that is good to constantly raise to a higher level”, Minister Bozinovic said.
Minister Bozinovic also met members of the 4th Combined Croatian-American Training Team (CS MN OMLT), which soon would leave for the ISAF mission in Afghanistan.
“Fran Krsto Frankopan” Training and Doctrine Command is an organizational unit of the Croatian Army, based in Osijek. Training and Doctrine Command, in the process of reorganization, took the highest number of employees of the former 3rd Corps of the Armed Forces and is located in the former headquarters building. ZOD basic tasks are: development and drafting of doctrinal documents pertaining to land forces, participating in making plans for equipping and modernization, implementation of individual training, support in training of troops for participation in international military operations (IMO), and participation in the evaluation of units for the IMO. Also, ZOD participate in the implementation of basic military training of recruits for voluntary military service, specialized training for admission to active military service, functional training through courses at national and international levels, training and evaluation, and training for international missions, and also provides support to “Petar Zrinski” Croatian Military Academy in training of officers and NCOs.
Within the Command, there are four centres: Centre for Basic Training in Pozega, Centre for Combat Training at the “Eugen Kvaternik” military training area near Slunj, Simulation Centre located in Zagreb at the Croatian Military Academy and Training Centre for International Military Operations in Rakitje.
