Minister Buljević meets with Ambassador of Sweden
The Croatian Defence Minister Josip Buljević received the visit from the Ambassador of Sweden to the Republic of Croatia, H.E. Lars Schmidt.
The Minister Buljević briefed Ambassador Schmidt on the priorities and goals of the Ministry of Defence in the upcoming period.
They discussed the current security challenges with the emphasis on the Middle East, as well as the prospects of the EU Common Security and Defence Policy and the related importance of enhancing the EU defence capabilities, the complementarity and co-ordination with NATO as the pillars of collective security.
Minister Buljević said the Republic of Croatia viewed Kingdom of Sweden as an important contributor to the European defence capabilities and a respectable NATO partner as well.
Minister Buljević and Ambassador Schmidt also discussed the options to enhance the bilateral defence co-operation. So far, Croatia and Sweden co-operated most during the participation in the Nordic EU Battlegroup in 2011.
