Minister Ivan Anušić Meets Albanian Ambassador Donika Hoxha at the Ministry of Defence
Albania and Croatia are allies and friendly countries with shared interests and goals, emphasised Minister Anušić.
Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia and Minister of Defence Ivan Anušić met today, October 7, 2025, at the Ministry of Defence with the Ambassador of the Republic of Albania to the Republic of Croatia, Donika Hoxha.
At the meeting they discussed trilateral defence and security cooperation between Croatia, Albania and Kosovo, global security challenges, Euro-Atlantic cooperation, the situation in Ukraine, and the security situation in Southeastern Europe.
Minister Anušić stressed that Albania and Croatia are friendly countries and allies that share numerous interests and goals and have a common view of the security situation in Southeast Europe.
They discussed the Declaration of Croatia, Albania and Kosovo, which strengthens trilateral cooperation. In this context, the Minister emphasised: “I am convinced that the Memorandum of Understanding between our ministries, signed in January last year, together with the Declaration of Croatia, Albania, and Kosovo, signed in March this year, which already deepens cooperation in the field of defence and security, will give new impetus and futher enhance relations between our countries,” said the Minister.
Minister Anušić and Ambassador Hoxha agreed that their common goals include stability and security in Southeastern Europe, supporting the Euro-Atlantic path, and strengthening cooperation and alliance between the three friendly countries.
Minister Anušić said that Croatia remains fully committed to its NATO obligations, particularly its participation in the KFOR operation in Kosovo, and continues to support Albania on its path towards membership in the European Union.
Regarding the situation in Ukraine, Minister Anušić stressed that Croatia supports the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine, and that all available measures should be employed to secure a just and lasting peace in Ukraine.
In the context of global security, Minister Anušić highlighted the importance of investing in defence, the potential of the ReARM plan and SAFE initiative, as well as Croatia’s ambition to become a leading nation in the production of small FPV drones.
Ambassador Hoxha thanked Minister Anušić for the reception and expressed confidence in the continuation of excellent defence cooperation between Croatia and Albania.
