Minister Kotromanović attends 48th Munich Security Conference

Defence Minister Ante Kotromanović attends the 48th Munich security conference which is held from 3 to 5 February 2012.

Traditional security conference of world leaders established itself as the leading European security forum. This conference put the emphasis on non-traditional (non-military) threats to international security such as cyber-attacks, energy security, financial stability, etc. In this context, NATO Secretary General, Anders Fogh Rasmussen and U.S. Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta in their speeches stressed that the complete rethinking of international security was possible only through the interaction of financial, economic and traditional security factors.

In light of the increasingly frequent media announcement about the transfer of the U.S. security interests from Europe to the Pacific area, the statement of the U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton about how Europe has been established U.S. partner in matters of international security, to which the United States turn first was encouraging. After all, very high level delegation led by U.S. Secretary of State and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of Defense attended the conference.

The conference deals with issues of current geopolitical changes in Europe, Asia and the Arab world.
Minister Kotromanović on the sidelines of the Conference met with several colleagues, and held bilateral meetings with the delegation of the Ministry of Defence of the Federal Republic of Germany with the aim of deepening the traditionally good defence cooperation, and with a delegation of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Macedonia regarding the current security situation in South Eastern Europe.
