Minister Kotromanović met Ambassador of Kingdom of Sweden
Defence Minister Ante Kotromanović received on Monday, 5 March 2012, in inaugural visit the Ambassador of Kingdom of Sweden Fredrik Vahiquist.
Minister Kotromanović thanked Swedish Ambassador Vahiquist for support given to Croatia in its accession to the EU, as well as for the cooperation achieved in the Nordic Battle Group in 2011 where Croatia participated with two helicopters and 20 members of the Croatian Armed Forces. “We appreciate the experience gained in this battle group and we are interested in further cooperation in this area”, Kotromanović said. The Minister also emphasized the contribution that Croatia provides in ISAF operation in Afghanistan and KFOR in Kosovo in the context of ensuring stability and development of the region. “Security and stability in the region is our priority. Croatia is seen as a leader who can share its experiences and help other countries in the region on their path to Euro-Atlantic structures”, Kotromanović said.
Swedish Ambassador Vahiquist congratulated Minister Kotromanović on the appointment, and expressed his pleasure with the professionalism and contribution of the Croatian Armed Forces members in the Nordic battle group. “By your commitment and providing of critically needed skills, such as a medical transport helicopter for the Nordic Battle Group, you demonstrated that you are professional and reliable partner and friend of the Kingdom of Sweden”, Ambassador Vahiquist said.
Minister Kotromanović and Ambassador Vahiquist also discussed the possibilities of expanding military-technical cooperation, but also in general on the possibilities of intensifying economic – industrial cooperation, as well as the presentation of Croatian military industry products on the Swedish market.
