Minister Kotromanović received Ambassador of the Republic of Austria

Defence Minister Ante Kotromanović received today, on 24 January 2012,  the Ambassador of the Republic of Austria to Croatia Andrea Ikić-Böhm with the delegation.

Ambassador Ikić-Böhm congratulated the Minister on his appointment, transmitting to him the greetings of the Austrian Minister of Defence. She pointed out that last Sunday was a great day not only for Croatia but also for Austria and for the whole European Union. Croatia, as said by the Ambassador, was an example of how the reforms have paid off, but also an example of how the EU fulfils its promises. She also noted very well-developed bilateral military cooperation, in which quality was always more important than quantity.

Defence Minister Ante Kotromanović welcomed the Austrian Ambassador stressing the excellent relations in many areas between our friendly countries. He thanked for all the support provided by Austria to the Republic of Croatia, as in the nineties, the same in the process of joining of our country to the European Union. Minister Kotromanović emphasized excellent military cooperation, especially in the UNDOF mission on the Golan Heights. He highly appraised Austrian contribution to the stabilization of the region, particularly the contribution in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Kosovo. When the Minister was thanking for the congratulations for the successful referendum conducted, he stressed that he believed the Croatian experience could motivate the region’s countries in achieving their Euro-Atlantic ambitions. Croatia will continue to support them, thus strengthening the stability and security in the region.

Minister Kotromanović informed the Ambassador on the activities of the Ministry of Defence in restructuring, and on the adoption of the key defence legislation and policy documents.
