Minister Kotromanović visits the Republic of Austria
Defence Minister Ante Kotromanović, upon the invitation of the Austrian Defence Minister Norbert Darabos, since 18 January 2012, paid a return visit to the Republic of Austria.
During the bilateral meeting, the two ministers exchanged views and experience of many areas from the rich bilateral cooperation between the two countries and their defence systems.
The meeting focused on the experiences of the transformation of the armed forces and its professionalization, as well as the participation in peacekeeping operations. Members of the Croatian and Austrian armed forces jointly operate within the UNDOF mission on the Golan Heights. The two ministers also discussed the further expansion of the dynamic defence cooperation, especially in the field of education and training, military-technical cooperation and joint training and training of troops to participate in peacekeeping operations. On this occasion, the Austrian exhibitors were invited to the military equipment and armaments fair – ASDA, which will be held in Split in April this year.
Minister Kotromanović thanked Minister Darabos on Austria’s support in the process of Croatian accession to the European Union.
The talks between the two ministers were the opportunity to exchange views on the situation in the region, and to express a common view on the need for continued presence of the international community to support the process of building stability and security.
Besides bilateral talks with his Austrian counterpart, Minister of Defence Kotromanović will also attend the traditional Officer Ball, as the guest of honour.
During a three-day stay in Austria, Minister Kotromanović is due to meet Burgenland Croats.
