Minister Kotromanović attends NATO Defence Ministers meeting

Defence Minister Ante Kotromanović attended the one-day NATO Defence Ministers meeting held in NATO Headquarters on 5 February 2015 – their first meeting since the last year’s Wales Summit.

The ministers reviewed look at the progress made and prepare for the defence ministers meeting in June and issued guidance and decisions of relevance for the collective defence.
At the meeting of the NATO-Georgia Commission (attended by the Georgian Defence Minister),having considered the security challenges to the east and south of NATO’s borders, the participants discussed the implementation of the Substantial NATO-Georgia Package endorsed at the Wales Summit and the related developments in Georgian defence sector towards enhanced  interoperability and NATO membership. They were also briefed on the Alliance’s staff and the Georgian contributions respectively.
At the afternoon meeting,  attended by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and the Vice –Chairman of the European Commission, NATO defence ministers took important decisions issuing from the Readiness Action Plan, particularly with the enhancement of the NATO Response Force with the Spearhead Force , as the Alliance’s asset for the new challenges
On their agenda was also the Nuclear Planning Group, considering  key issues related to the Alliance’s nuclear deterrence policy.
