Minister Krstičević and General Šundov visit 5th HRVCON to RS
The Croatian Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Damir Krstičević and the Chief of the General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces, General Mirko Šundov and the delegation arrived in Mazar-e-Sharif (Camp Marmal) to visit the main component of the 5th HRVCONto Resolute Support, assigned to the TAAC-N.
The 5th HRVCON Commander, Colonel Dražen Sebastian reported to the Minister upon the arrival, and the components commanders briefed Minister and the Chief of the General Staff on the tasks performed within the mission.
“Your tasks are responsible and demanding and I am proud of your focussed performance and the Croatian contribution in the building of the Afghan institutions. We learned from our own experience that the development depends on peace and stability. It is our duty to engage in the promotion of peace and security.
The Ministry of Defence and me in the capacity of the Minister will insist on providing better working conditions for you- The year ahead of us will the year of enlisted soldiers, NCOs, officers, civilian employees. We pledge to do our best to upgrade the working and living conditions and the safety , especially for the members deployed in international missions“.
Addressing the members of the 5th HRVCON to Resolute Support Mission the Chief of the General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces, General Mirko Šundov said: “It was impressive to observe the successfuly synergy of the youth of the new generations and the experience of the participants of the Homeland War, both adding considerably to the success of the Croatian engagement in Afghanistan. Through the operation in an international environment, instructing and mentoring the members of the Afghan Security Force the Croatian forces themselves acquire new skills and build on their capabilities, which is an “added value“ of our participation in Resolute Support mission. It promotes the efficiency of the Croatian Armed Forces too“.
Minister Krstičević and General Šundov paid an office call to the TAAC-N Commander, Brigadier General Andre Bodemann and the civilian representative of the TAAC-N, Dr. Robert Klinke. Brig. Gen. Bodemann praised the Croatian contribution to the operation of the TAAC-N while Minister Krstičević underlined the value of the activities by TAAC-N aimed at fulfilling the goals of the Resolute Support mission.
Minister Krstičević and General Šundov visited the Command of the 209 the Corps of the Afghanistan National Army, stationed in the Camp Shaheen, to which the Croatian mentors have been assigned.
Major General Mohamand Katawazi, the Corps Commander extended the appreciation to the Croatian delegation for the efforts invested by the Croatian mentors aimed at assisting the Afghan forces acquire the necessary capabilities required to autonomously enhance the peace and security of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.
