Minister Krstičević meets with Ambassador of Montenegro

The Croatian Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Damir Krstičević on 3 February 2017 met with the Ambassador of Montenegro to the Republic of Croatia, H.E. Boro Vučinić.

The Minister and the Ambassador affirmed the very good bilateral co-operation between the two friendly and neighbouring countries and agreed that their partnership should be followed by other countries of southeast Europe.

“The Republic of Croatia has long advocated the entry of Montenegro and I am therefore glad to have seen the Accession Protocol signed in November 2016. We equally support the accession of Montenegro to the EU, and pledge to support it through transfering our experiences from the pre-accession negotiations, particularly the domain of the Common Security and Defence Policy “, stated the Minister.

The Republic of Croatia has positioned itself as the leading country conveying the experiences from the accession process. Montenegro relies on its experiences with the building of the defence capabilities.

The two sides agreed that continued Euro-Atlantic integration agenda was the best modality for stabilisation and progress of the countries of the region, and the stability of southeast Europe was a priority, in view of the challenges it is faced with.
