Minister Krstičević meets with Maj. Gen. Scott A. Howell
The Croatian Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Damir Krstičević on 13 March 2017 received a visit from Major General Scott A. Howell, Commander of NATO Special Special Operations Component Command in Resolute Support Mission in Afghanistan during his visit to the Republic of Croatia and the Croatian Armed Forces.
The Minister and the Commander discussed the security situation in Afghanistan, Minister Krstičević reiterated Croatia’s firm commitment to continued engagement in the Mission, consisting in training the Afghan forces for fighting any challenges to eventually assume full responsibility for the security in their country.
Ministar Krstičević underlined that Croatia had been engaged in NATO-led operations in Afghanistan for over a decade and deployed more than 4,700 members of its Armed Forces.
“I was in a visit to Afghanistan last December, and was glad to witness to the commendable performance and achievements by the members of the Croatian Armed Forces in training the Afghan force members“, said Minister Krstičević.
Major General Howell also had a meeting with the Chief of the General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces, General Mirko Šundov.
