Minister Krstičević meets with ministers of the Philippines and Georgia
The Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Damir Krstičević on 11 April 2019 met with the defence minister of the Phillippines Delfino Lorenzano and of Georgia Levan Izoria, who were visiting the Adriatic Sea Defense & Aerospace Exhibition and Conference in Split.
During the meeting with the Defence Minister of the Philippines the two sides affirmed the friendly relations between the two countries, and discussed the prospects for intensified bilateral defence co-operation and the current global and regional security threats.
Minister Krstičević briefed Minister Lorenzana on the ongoing activities in the Ministry of Defence and of the Croatian Armed Forces and on Croaita’s contribution as NATO and the EU member to protection of the global security.
Minister Krstičević and the Defence Minister of the Philippines signed the Memorandum of Understanding on the Defence Co-operation between the Ministry of National Defence of the Philippines and the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Croatia.
At the bilateral meeting with the Defence Minister of Georgia Izori the two sides affirmed the good bilateral relations Georgia and Croatia and expressed the wish to continue co-operating. The two ministers exchanged views on the security situation and risks faced in southeast Europe and the south Caucasus, as well as on continued co-operation focussed on the building of defence capabilities and the preparation by Georgia for full NATO membership.
Minister Krstičević welcomed the reforms undertaken in Georgia in line with its Euro-Atlantic aspirations and emphasised the opennness of the Republic of Croatia for co-operating through the transfer of experience with the accession to NATO and the EU.
Minister Izoria extended appreciation to the Croatian Ministry for the support in the building of defence capabilities for opening its NATO English courses for the members of the Georgian Armed Forces as well as training for intelligence officers: the ministers met with two Georgian officers presently attending the courses in Croatia.
Minister Krstičević and Minister Izoria signed the joint statement on the commitment to development of bilateral defence relations between Croatia and the Philippines.
The Phillipphine and the Georgian delegations met with the representatives of several Croatian defence manufacturers.
