Minister Krstičević meets with Swedish Ambassador

The Croatian Deputy Prime Minister and the Defence Minister, Damir Krstičević on 12 January 2017 met with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden to the Republic of Croatia, H.E Lars Schmidt.

The Minister and the Ambassador reviewed the existing good bilateral co-operation, mostly in the military technical domain, and discussed the possibilities for its expansion.
Minister Krstičević presented the activities and the security and defence-related goals and priorities of the Croatian Government and of the Ministry of Defence (among which contnued economic developmemt and enhanced defence and security capabilities.

The Minister highlighted the ongoing drafting of the National Security Strategy , the formalised concept of the homeland security and new legal regulations related to defence in response to the current global security situation. The Ambassador and the Minister also exchanged  the views on the current security situation in Europe within the overall geopolitical framework.

The Minister reiterated Croatia’s continuous strong support to the credible and efficient security and defence policy of the European Union. 

Croatia also supports the concrete implementation of the objectives contained in the  Joint EU –NATO Declaration, particularly the strengthened co-operation in fighting  hybrid and cyber threats, illegal migrations, terrorism and radical islam.
