Defence Minister Branko Vukelic met today, on Wednesday, 20 October 2010 in Rakitje, the Minister of Defence of Bosnia and Herzegovina Selmo Cikotic, where they discussed defence cooperation between the two countries and on Bosnia and Herzegovina path to NATO.

Minister Vukelic said that bilateral cooperation in defence field between Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina was good, and given its growing volume, he pointed out that he expected to soon sign the agreement on defence cooperation between the two countries. The agreement should replace the Memorandum of Understanding that the Croatian Ministry of Defence and BiH Ministry of Defence signed in 2006.

Defence Minister Branko Vukelic and Minister of Defence of Bosnia and Herzegovina Selmo Cikotic also discussed possible cooperation in the field of joint contributions of member states of the US-Adriatic Charter – A5 (USA, Croatia, Albania, Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro) in training Afghan security forces in the ISAF operation. It would be a contribution to regional cooperation as well a concrete contribution to the ISAF mission precisely with those abilities that are most needed at the time – mentoring and training the Afghan National Army, Minister Vukelic and Cikotic concluded.
