Minister visits Summer Cadet Camp
The Croatian Defence Minister Josip Buljević on 12 July 2016 visited the Summer Camps of the 12nd and 13rd generation of cadets of the Croatian Armed Forces in training in the Gakovo Training Range from 3 – 16 July 2016.
The Minister was welcomed by the Chief of the General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces, General Mirko Šundov, the Commander of the Croatian Defence Academy, Lieutenant General Slavko Barić and the Commander of the Cadet Battalion, Major Tomislav Kasumović.
The Minister met with the 12nd and the 13rd generation of cadets – a total of 158 cadets of the first (Summer Camp 2) and the second year (Summer Camp 3) of the military study programmes Military Engineering and Military Management.
“I am glad to have observed come of your training activities here, in a summer camp, and to have seen the energy and hard work you are investing. You are the future of the Croatian Armed Forces and are invited to keep on the good work“. The Minister also commended the efforts by the instructors and the commanders of the Cadet Battalion.
General Šundov said he was impressed by the presentations and the cadets’ miljtary skills. “The training is relevant in terms of content and the conduct; so If you continue working as demonstrated, I am certain that you will be duly prepared to take up your first duty of platoon commanders. Your youth, the desire and motivation to become officers of the victorious miltary are highly impressive“, concluded General Šundov.
The Summer Camp 2 is attended by 73 cadets of the 1st Cadet Company. The aim of the Camp is to impart basic skills and knowledge required for team and squad command in the execution of small unit tactics and the improvement of basic military skills.
The Summer Camp 3 training is attended by 85 cadets of the 2nd Cadet Battalion. The aim of the Camp is to provide the cadets with the basic skills and knowledge required for leading the platoons in tactical mission exercise and the development of the acquired competence of planning, command and conduct of complex tactical procedures.
