Ministry of Defence signs contracts on equipping of the Croatian Armed Forces

Defence Minister Ante Kotromanović on Friday 17 January 2014 signed 14 contracts with the representatives of the contract-winning Croatian manufacturers on procurement of the garments and military equipment for the Croatian Armed Forces.

The contracts, worth of 66 million kuna (8 684.210,00 EUR) , stipulate that the 21 firms winning the procurement tender manufacture 175.934 pieces of garments, 13735 pairs of boots, 500 helmets, 1585 VHS-D1 and VHS-K1 assault rifles and 1125 rifles accessories for the equipping of the Croatian Armed Forces.
  
The contract signing ceremony, organised at the Ministry of Defence and the General Staff Heaquarters, was attended by the Chief of the General Staff General Lovrić and the Assistant Minister for Material Resources Viktor Koprivnjak.

On behalf of the Association of Bidders the contracts for procurement of combat uniforms, helmets and assault rifles were signed by the following manufacturers from Croatia:  “Borovo d.d.”, “Inkop obuća d.o.o.” and “Jelen d.o.o.” “Kroko d.o.o.”, “Čateks d.d.”, “Šešir d.o.o.”, “URIHO”, “Varteks d.o.o.”, “Hemco d.o.o.”, “Krojostil d.o.o.”, “Jadran d.d.”, “Galeb d.d.”, “Skriplet d.o.o.”, “HS produkt d.o.o.”, “Šestan Busch d.o.o.”, “Odjeća d.o.o.” and  “Mako d.o.o.”.

Having signed the contracts, the Minister emphasised satisfaction over the co-operation and the fact that Croatian soldiers were equipped entirely with Croatian products. „The Croatian manufacturers market quality products that also conform with the NATO standards. The contracts we have signed constitute a model of co-operation promoting and supporting the Croatian firms“, stated Minister Kotromanović.

The Chief of the General Staff praised the contracts being signed early in the year, making possible timely procurement of the Croatian soldiers with the necessary equipment and announced joint efforts by the Croatian Armed Forces and the manufacturers on upgrading of the military equipment in the process.

Speaking on behalf of the bidders, Žarko Popović of „Kroko“ expressed satisfaction over the co-operation model employed and extended appreciation to the Ministry of Defence for having enabled the Croatian manufacturers display their  assets and quality. Alojz Šestan, the representative of the renowned „Šestan-Busch“ helmet manufacturer emphasised that the contracts proved the actual intent and efforts by the Ministry of Defence to support and foster the Croatian industry.
