Minor explosion in a former Pađene military depot near Knin
Due to the extremely high temperatures, today in the afternoon, 22 August 2012, there was a series of small explosions in a former military warehouse Pađene near Knin.
The blast of scattered ordnance was in the area previously affected by fire, inside the former military depot, so there is no possibility of eventual expansion of the fire or danger to the civilian population.
Members of the Croatian Armed Forces have taken the security measures around the area.
The residents of the surrounding towns were asked not to come to the area of the former military depot Pađene.
After the last year’s fire that engulfed former military depot Pađene, so far 35 million square metres has been cleaned from the scattered explosives or a radius about 3.5 kilometers around the former warehouse.
CAF is currently preparing to clean the area in the former military depot.
