MoD and “Đuro Đaković” Sign 112 Mil HRK Worth Contract
Implementing the commitment of the Republic of Croatia to pursue equipping of its Armed Forces, the Defence Minister Ante Kotromanović on 17 May 2013 signed with the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the “Đuro Đaković Group”, Vladimir Kovačević, the contract on acquisition and equipping of armoured combat vehicles of the Croatian Armed Forces with the 12.7-mm PROTECTOR M151 weapon stations.
The worth of the contract amounts to 112 mil kuna or cca 1,473.6842 € (TVA excluded) and the term for the delivery of the vehicles by “Đuro Đaković” is during the current and the following year.
The “Đuro Đaković Group” has signed a co-operation agreement with the Norwegian group “Kongsberg” on acquisition and assembly of the PROTECTOR M151 weapon stations (the 12.7 mm calibre). The weapon stations of the type currently occupy the global leader status, and the co-operation of the two groups has been further expanded since 2012 by an agreement on joint development and launching of the PROTECTOR Medium Caliber RWS 30mm into the market.
“The continuation of the co-operation with “Đuro Đaković” with the project of armoured combat vehicles entails progress in the projected development of the Armed Forces into a small-sized and modern and mobile military in order to maintain the existing capabilities and attain new ones.
In addition, the co-operation evinces the firm commitment by the Government of the Republic of Croatia and its Ministry of Defence to continuosly support the Croatian defence industry as one of the most vital exporting branches of the Croatian economy. “The contract crowns the continuous successful co-operation between the “Đuro Đaković Group” and the Ministry of Defence. We express our satisfaction over the fact that the Armed Forces are pursuing procurement of new and modernising the existing assets from domestic manufacturers”. Quality co-operation with the Croatian defence forces and excellent reference acquired in the domestic market provide good prospects for the global market as well.
By signing of the contract with the Finnish “Patria” and the Norwegian “Kongsberg” on mounting of the Kongsberg-made weapon stations onto the Patria’s Armoured Mobile Vehicles 8×8 by “Đuro Đaković” in its halls in Slavonski Brod, and through joint presence in the global market the “Đuro Đaković Group” has made its way among the few top world’s defence manufacturers.
“The contract that we have signed today will add another respectable reference in foreign markets, and acceeding them constitutes the priority of the management of the “Đuro Đaković Group”, said Vladimir Kovačević, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Group.
