MoD awards scholarships to future aviation maintenance techniciansl

The Assistant Minister for Human Potential Zoran Piličić on 26 February 2019  handed the scholarship contracts to the students of the Aviation Maintenance Technician School “Rudolf Perešin” in Velika Gorica, who are preparing for a in-demand profile in the Ministry of Defence and the Croatian Armed Forces.

Assistant Minister Piličić reminded that the Ministry attached most importance to the human resources “Investing into the young is one of our foremost tasks; you make the future of the defence system and you are going to maintain the aviation assets.

The scholarships also serve to create jobs for the young, as evident from the prior generations, who were hired by the Ministry and the Croatian Armed Forces immediately following graduation from the secondary school.   

The Commander of the Croatian Air Force Brigadier General Mato Mikić stressed that the Ministry of Defence was recognised as good employer  and that the scholarschip contracts were an additional incentive to the young students to start their careers in the Croatian Air Force. “We are glad that the young people accepted the offer from the Ministry of Defence and joined the Air Force  and work in –maintenance of aviation assets, which is of critical importance, especially for the air force”, said Brig. Gen. Mikić.

The Director of the Aviation Maintenance Technician  School “Rudolf Perešin” in Velika Gorica Vedran Šarac said the scholarships complemented the existing co-operation exercised through practical classes attended in the Croatian Air Force’s units and said he wished it continued. 

As many as 13 students received sponsorships, among whom a girl – Ivona Vedriš a 3rd form student looking forward to her future job in the Croatian Armed Forces. “The scholarship offers a great opportunity”.
  
In late 2018 30 scholarship holders of the 4th grade in the academic year 2017/2018 completed secondary school, took the voluntary military training and  were admitted to active duty service in the Air Force units as aviation maintenance technicians: among whom Private Karlo Vargek, who told the audience: “The scholarship opened the door of the Croatian Air Force for me, and I am so proud and happy to be a part of one of the best services of the Croatian Armed Forces”.
