State Secretary Simunovic at the meeting of defence ministers in Tirana

The delegation of the Ministry of Defence led by the MOD State Secretary Pjer Simunovic, participated on Monday, 11 October 2010, at a SEDM – South Eastern Europe Defence Ministerial meeting in Tirana. The discussion at the meeting was on the activities and achievements since the last ministerial meeting in 2009, on joint projects that contribute to the development of cooperation, security and stability in the region and integration into Euro-Atlantic organizations.

On this occasion, State Secretary Simunovic separately met with ministers of defence of Albania, Arben Imami, Montenegro, Boro Vucinic, Macedonia, Zoran Konjanovski and Bosnia and Herzegovina, Selmo Cikotic, with whom he discussed the cooperation and the possibilities of joint contribution to the ISAF operation in Afghanistan through the preparation and assignment of mentors and instructors to train Afghan forces. Contribution to training of Afghan forces is an important factor in the efforts of the international community in achieving long-term goal – the transition of Afghanistan to self-sustaining state through the development of security capabilities and security forces that will ensure the strengthening of government and economic development.
