MOD State Secretary Simunovic visits Spanish Ministry of Defence

MOD State Secretary Pjer Simunovic paid an official visit to the Kingodm of Spain from 16th to 18th of March 2010, where he will meet State Secretary for Defence Policy of the Spanish Ministry of Defence Luis Cuesta Civis and Chief of General Staff of the Kingdom of Spain, General Jose Julio Rodriguez Fernandez.

During the meeting, they will discuss the priorities of the Spanish EU Presidency in the field of defence, the Common European Security and Defence Policy and the contribution that Croatia provides to the CSDP through participation in international operations (ATALANTA, EULEX Kosovo, and ALTHEA in Bosnia). Also, the talks will be on NATO, the Croatian Armed Forces transformation, and on bilateral defence cooperation and the possibility of its intensification.
Since the Kingdom of Spain currently presides the European Union, this meeting is important for strengthening military cooperation and exchange of opinions regarding the security and defence policy and other issues of importance to both countries (like cooperation in the Mediterranean area).
During the visit, MOD State Secretary Simunovic will also visit Operational Centre of the Spanish Armed forces where he will be introduced with methods of command, control and management of Spanish troops participating in international operations.
