MOD Website again among the best in “Vidi Web Top 100”
Website of the Ministry of Defence have been selected as one of the top 10 at the recently held national Internet contest “Vidi Web Top 100”, in the category of government organizations, government institutions and public service.
This is the second time that the official MOD website was selected among the top 10 in this category – the first time was in 2009.
In the contest for the best web sites in Croatia and the region, among 1739 nominees jury chosed the best 10 web sites in 10 categories: corporate site, media, news, advertisements, sports, health, nutrition, web promotion, blogs, science, education, culture, tourism and travel, government organizations, government institutions and public services, entertainment, fashion, music and mobile web applications.
The new, redesigned website of the Ministry of Defence was launched in early April 2009 with the aim of faster and more comprehensive informing the public about projects within the MOD and Croatian Armed Forces.
The site has clear, informative, modern design, with emphasis on multimedia content – images, audio and video.
Emphasis is placed on quality processing of all existing content with easy search function, making the site which meets the different needs, and facilitates communication with the public while enabling a proactive approach. Advanced features have been incorporated that enable users to get in one place all the necessary information from the defence system.
Website of the Ministry of Defence was made on the Open Source platform (according to the EU recommendations on the use of open source), it has a flexible CMS for content and functional expansion if needed, and is designed as a multimedia platform for video / photo / audio distribution to the end users. It is in accordance with the W3C standards and compatible with all modern browsers.
Website of the Ministry of Defence in 2011, compared to 2009 when it was launched a new redesigned site, recorded increase of the number of visitors by 86%, the number of visits by 94.7%, and increase in the total number of page views by 66.9%.
