MoU with Canada signed
Col. Antonio Battista, the new Canadian Defence Attache to the Republic of Croatia, paid an incoming office call to the Ministry of Defence on 13 February 2013 and was welcomed by Mr. Boško Rotim, the Head of the Department of Bilateral and Regional Co-operation, on behalf of the Assistant Minister of Defence.
Also attending were the Assistant Minister for Human Resources, Ms Sunčana Vukelić and the Canadian Ambassador to the Republic of Croatia, H. E. Louise La Rocque.
It was an occasion for signing the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Croatia and the Canadian Ministry of National Defence on Canadian Military Training and Co-operation Programme (MTCP), crowning the years-long co-operation in the fields of education and training, initiated by the Memorandum of 2006.
The Croatian officials acknowledged the support provided by Canada to development of the capabilities of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Croatia projected at interoperability with NATO structures, primarily through education of Croatian officers in the framework of the Military Training and Co-operation Programme).
Both sides commended amicable bilateral relations and close co-operation within NATO pertaining to the issues of global and regional security, notably in the ISAF Operation as common foreign policy priority.
