NATO Assistant Secretary General visited Islamic Republic of Afghanistan

NATO Assistant Secretary General for Public Diplomacy, Ambassador Kolinda Grabar Kitarović arrived today, 29 January 2013, in a five-day visit to the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, where she was welcomed at the Kabul by the Commander of the 20th HRVCON ISAF, Colonel Željko Dadić.

On the first day of a five-day visit to Afghanistan, Ambassador Kolinda Grabar Kitarović met with the Minister for Women’s Affairs, Dr Husin Bano Ghazanfer. The Ambassador at the meeting stressed that the NATO shared the interest in improving the status of women in that Islamic country and also stressed the important role of women in Afghanistan. Minister Ghazanfer stressed that in recent years the position of women in Afghanistan made visible progress, and more and more women have been educated and employed.

Kolinda Grabar Kitarović met the Afghan Minister for Hajj and Religious Affairs and also visited the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where she met with the spokespersons of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Interior and of the National Security Directorate.
