NATO Civil-military Cooperation Conference in Split

A five-day NATO Civil-military Cooperation Conference of staff for civil-military relations from NATO command and force structure, which involved over 50 participants from several NATO headquarters, began today, May 21, in Split.

The Conference is conducted annually in order to exchange views and information on the most important activities of civil-military cooperation staff in the areas of operations.

The task of the CIMIC staff in the area of ​​operation is to establish cooperation with all who are not from the military structure, and are engaged in an operation, such as the Red Cross, UN and various governmental and nongovernmental organizations and with civil population and government structures, with the aim of achieving the synergistic effect in the area of ​​operation.

At the beginning of the conference, CIMIC Director of the Allied Command Operations (SHAPE) pointed out that NATO is in the final stage of the adoption of key documents from the CIMIC functional area, which will in the best way define new tasks and new requirements for CIMIC.

Upon completion of the conference, a seminar will be held where, besides of the conference participants, representatives of some of the most important international civilian organizations that work in the area of ​​operations will also participate.
