NATO-ISAF medals awarded to members of joint Croatian-US OMLT
In the Croatian part of Mike Spann Camp in Mazar-e Sharif in Afghanistan, on Tuesday, 18 January 2011, members of the 3rd MN CS OMLT (Multinational Combined Operational Mentoring and Liaison Team) consisting of members of the Croatian Armed Forces and members of the U.S. Armed Forces from the composition of the Minnesota National Guard were awarded with NATO – ISAF medals for participation in the ISAF mission.
NATO-ISAF medals were awarded by the Commander of the CAF GS Command Operations Centre Brigadier General Vlado Sindler, who has been currently visiting members of the 16th Croatian Contingent (HRVCON) deployed in ISAF mission in Afghanistan.
Medal ceremony began by report to General Sindler submitted by Colonel Slavko Bonic, Commander of the Garrison OMLT, and then, along with the NATO ISAF medal, members of the 3rd MN CS OMLT team were awarded with letters of appreciation handed by the OMLT Deputy Commander, Major David John Baer, a member of the Minnesota National Guard. The ceremony was attended by the Commander of the 16th HRVCON ISAF, Captain Marileo Stanicic, Commander of the 17th HRVCON ISAF Brigadier Blaz Beretin, Chief of Personnel Department in ISAF Regional Command North, Colonel Zoran Pilicic and representatives of other contingents located in the camp.
Third MN CS OMLT is a multinational team consisting of 13 members of the Minnesota National Guard and 15 members of the Croatian Armed Forces who have been deployed in the ISAF operation in Afghanistan since May 2010. The main task of the team is training and mentoring of members of the battalion for combat support of the Afghan National Army (ANA), and providing technical assistance in planning tasks and operations. OMLT Commander is Colonel Drazen Sebastian.
