NATO Secretary General visits MoD

Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Damir Krstičević on 8 October 2018 met with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg who was on an official visit to the Republic of Croatia.

NATO Secretary General was welcomed with a ceremonial line-up of the Honorary Battalion in front of the Ministry of Defence. 
Minister Krstičević and NATO Secretar-General  discussed current issues with respect to the adaptation of the Alliance to the existing security challenges.

Minister Krstičević expressed satisfaction over the  the visit of NATO Secretary-General to Croatia, shortly  after the meeting of  NATO defence ministers . Minister Krstičević stressed : “Members of the Croatian Armed Forces,  have provided a huge contribution to NATO missions and operations, where they shared their experience from the Homeland War.”

The Minister also stressed that Croatia was a responsible member of NATO  and had increased the n defence – related budget and stated that an additional increase was projected in the upcoming period to come.

Minister Krstičević briefed  NATO Secretary General on the Exercise “Velebit 18 – Joint Force” to be held  in Croatia 13 – 15 October. “The Croatian Armed Forces will continue to modernise and develop interoperability, so that Croatia continues to be a stability  factor in  the region.”
