Navy member sent to MINURSO
A member of the Croatian Navy, Lieutenant Commander, Vlade Zoko was sent to the UN peacekeeping mission MINURSO in Western Sahara – (Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara), as a military observer for 1 year.
This continues the active participation of members of the Croatian Navy as military observers in this UN peacekeeping mission. The mission was launched with the aim of monitoring and supervising the ceasefire and organization and implementation of free and fair referendum.
Lieutenant Commander Vlade Zoko was born on 19 June 1966 in Dugobabe, Klis. He is a member of the Croatian Armed Forces since 1991. He obtained Master’s degree at the University of Split and completed the Command and Staff College “Blago Zadro” at the Croatian Military Academy. During his service in the Navy he held a number of command positions at Navy Fleet ships and in Coast Guard. Currently he was on duty of Deputy Commander of the Coast Guard Platoon.
For his work Lieutenant Commander Zoko was praised and rewarded by the Minister of Defence and the Chief of General Staff.
Croatia has been participating in the MINURSO peacekeeping mission since December 2002, and members of the Croatian Navy since 2003.
