New CAF Task Force deployed to fight the floods

In order to optimise the defence of the flood-hit areas, the Chief of the General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces, an additional  Task Force “North”, assisting the residents in the Sisak-Moslavina and the Zagreb Counties was formed on Friday 21 February 2014, pursuant to the order by the Chief of the General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces,  General Drago Lovrić.

The Task Force “North” comprises 400 members of the Armed Forces, equipped with the necessary transport vehicles, working machines and amphibious carriers , and is based in the barracks “Pukovnik Predrag Matanović” in Petrinja, which also houses the Tactical Operations Centre, exercising command and control of the Task Force “North”. They have been deployed upon the request by the National Search and Rescue Directorate, in co-ordination with the Search and Rescue Hq of the Sisak-Moslavina County.
Col. Slobodan Kratofil of the Croatian Army has been designated as co-ordinator of all the activities of the Croatian Armed Forces in fighting the effects of the flood. 
In support to the forces assisting the area of Čička Poljana in the Zagreb County the Croatian Armed Forces have provided four military lorries to carry out all necessary transportation, a potable water cistern tank and a field kitchen with the respective staff, in charge of preparing some 800 meals for the engaged soldiers and the local residents.
