Official promotion of CMA students
On the occasion of Statehood Day of the Republic of Croatia, the official promotion of students of military schools was held in the Croatian Military Academy on Thursday, June 24.
In the school year 2009/10, 208 officers and 30 female officers and 113 NCOs and 7 female NCOS successfully completed their education on the academy. Among them were 13 members of the armed forces from foreign countries.
61 student of the 9th generation of advanced officer training, 123 students of the 9th generations of basic officer training, 16 students of the 8th generation of high NCO training, 57 students of the 22nd generation of advanced NCO training and 47 students of the 37th generations of basic NCO training received their diplomas.
In addition to students and CMA staff, the ceremony was also attended by senior officials of Ministry of Defence and Croatian Armed Forces and family members and friends of the students.
The students were congratulated by the Deputy Chief of General Staff, Lieutenant General Slavko Baric, and CMA director Major General Mirko Sundov. They said to them that they were the generation that was not educated for war, but for peace and that they were the generation who inherited all the good that the generations brought from the Homeland War.
Lieutenant General Slavko Baric reminded all that the Republic of Croatia joined NATO Alliance, by which it became part of the security world, which has been aimed to create an environment that would enable for all an undisturbed development. “This requires from us new skills and knowledge, adapting of military mechanization and adoption of the standards of our military partners”, Lieutenant General Baric said. He also stressed that NATO requires a new approach and a different military culture, and as the important challenges, the General highlighted the acceptance of new technologies and new forms and ways of command in the Croatian Armed Forces. In his speech, Lieutenant General Baric also talked on one of the most important tasks of the CAF, participation in international military operations.
With a traditional selection of the best students, for this school year were also selected the best teacher Major Zdravko Barbaric and the best CMA instructor Master Sergeant Camil Hasanovic. The best student of the advanced officer training was First Lieutenant Antonijo Lanc, of the basic officer training, Lieutenant Dragutin Vrbek, of the high NCO training, staff sergeant Damir Pavesic, of the advanced NCO training Sergeant Damir Arzek, and of the basic NCO training Corporal Dejan Labrovic.
