Omani pilots take flight training
By performing an introductory flight with its instructors the Airplane Squadron of the 93rd Croatian Air Force and Air Defence Base initiated the flight training on the PC-9 M for 16 pilot trainees and two flight instructors (designated liaison officers and training co-ordinators) of the Royal Air Force of the Sultanate of Oman.
They are to undergo the basic flight training on the Pilatus PC-9M airplane, comprising five segments as follows:
basic and aerobatic flying, VFR flying, IFR flying, night-time and group flying. Each training segment will be concluded by the respective exam.
The objective of the Training is to prepare Omani pilots for further stages of training on other types of aircraft. Upon the completion they will receive certificates and the individual recommendations by Croatian pilots for the further stages of training (depending on the qualities displayed for combat pilot, helicopter pilot or transport aircraft pilot)
The flight instructors include the members of the “Wings of Storm” Aerobatic Group, who contributed most to the visibility of the Croatian Air Force and Air Defence flight school and the training arrangement for the Omani pilots.
The Commander of the Airplane Squadron, Major Željko Harapin pointed out that the Omani trainees successfully completed all preparatory activities and were about to take the most interesting segment.
“The training programme was tailored to the requests and needs of the Royal Air Force of Oman. It is delivered in two training groups and highly individualised, with two trainees allocated to one Croatian instructor.
This arrangement is to present the training capabilities of Croatian pilots and the Squadron, and it leads to many new opportunities. We have all been looking forward to the flying part, to pass on the knowledge and monitor the trainees master the elements of the flight training, to enable them to take the subsequent stages of their career on the jet practice airplane“, said Major Harapin.
